The Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department responded to a water main break at Five Corners on May 8th. Upon arrival, a serious flooding condition was found that was threatening four private homes in the area. Two of the houses had several feet of water in their basements, and the water level was rising. The Fire Department, along with the DPW, deployed four large pumps to keep the water level from rising further and causing more damage to the residences. Smaller pumps were deployed to pump out the basements. The operation lasted three hours and utilized resources from fire department, Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department and DPW.
