On Sunday, August 25th, the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department responded to a report of a kitchen fire at a local restaurant. Due to the initial report phoned in of a fire, Ardsley FD Ladder 50 was automatically dispatched. Dobbs Ferry FD was asked to send an engine to cover the village. Upon arrival, it was determined that restaurant workers put the fire out with extinguishers before arrival. The fire department investigated for possible extension, found none and all fire apparatus was returned to service. This is another example of a great response and cooperation with our neighboring departments. The restaurant staff members are to be commended for their quick action using the fire extinguishers to put out the fire before it spread.
