An outstanding job by the members of the Hastings Fire Department when they were dispatched Sunday July 12th to a call for a child locked in a safe at a local Yeshiva. Upon arrival members found a large reinforced safe in the cafeteria with a 10 year old child in it. After sizing up the situation the hydraulic extrication tools and a K12 saw from Rescue 100 were used to cut the hinges and spread the door open. While cutting the safe with the saw water was sprayed on it to keep the child cool inside. Upon opening the safe the child was removed and turned over to the Greenburgh Police and Greenburgh PD/EMS for medical evaluation. This call demonstrates that the ALL VOLUNTEER Hastings on Hudson is prepared for all types of emergencies .
