On Monday (12/7 ) evening Hastings Ladder 22 was called to standby at Irvington Fire Headquarters while Irvington FD was fighting a structure fire with flames through the roof. As Ladder 22 , 2181 & 2183 were responding a second alarm was transmitted and Ladder 22 was directed to the scene of the structure fire. The members of the Ladder were put to work along with the other rivertown departments. The fire was in the crawlspace under the floor, between the walls and spread up through the roof making it difficult and dangerous. Under the Command of Irvington Chief Dowd and his Assistant Chiefs the operation was successful in containing and extinguishing the fire with out serious injury. This is the second serious structure fire with in two day in the area. As always the all volunteer rivertown Fire Departments came to the aid of a neighbor and worked together to get the job done. Chief Dowd job well done,
