On Saturday September 11th 2021 the Village of Hastings held a memorial service to honor those who lost their lives twenty years ago in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Shanksville PA. The Hastings-on Hudson Fire Department and Police Department provided the color guard The Mayor, Trustees and other village officials were in attendance.
Lisa O’Reilly from the Parks & Recreation Department created a living and growing memorial made up of 3,000 forget-me-not flowers arranged to resemble the Twin Towers. The 3,000 flowers to represent the 2,997 lives lost on September 11th as well as the six people who perished in the first attack on the World Trade Center on February 26th, 1993. Across the street in the windows of 555 Warburton Avenue, the names of lives lost on September 11th were posted.. We would like to thank Lisa for everything she has done organizing the memorial along with Village Trustee Tom Drake. NEVER FORGET.
