At 6:31 PM on Tuesday, April 11th, the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department and HFD Ambulance Corps were dispatched to the Saw Mill River Parkway for a report of a three-car accident just south of the Cliff Street exit. It was reported by our dispatching agency (60-Control) that the accident involved a vehicle which had rolled over onto its roof. Units arriving on scene confirmed the initial dispatch. Members on Rescue 100 assessed the overturned vehicle for any hazards, Engine 46 stretched a precautionary line and members of Engine 44 provided traffic control to direct vehicles off the Saw Mill River Parkway. The ambulance provided care to the driver of the overturned vehicle and transported him to a local hospital. All four department chiefs (2181 - Brian Schnibbe, 2182 - Mike Gunther, 2183 - John Lindner, 2184 - Frank DeSouza) operated on the scene as well. Units operated for approximately one hour before being released. Our thanks to the agencies which assisted our operation on the parkway: Westchester County Police, Hastings-on-Hudson Police and the City of Yonkers Police. |
