At 11:30 PM on Thursday, April 13th, the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department and HFD Ambulance Corps were dispatched to the Metro-North Train Station on a report of a pedestrian struck by a train.

Chief Schnibbe (Car 2181) arrived on scene within one minute of dispatch and shortly confirmed an individual had been struck by a northbound train arriving at the station. Upon coordination with Metro-North's Emergency Control Center, power was disconnected to the tracks so emergency personnel could safely assess the scene.

Members of the Hastings-on-Hudson Ambulance Corps, along with officers of the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department, performed live-saving measures on the individual, but he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene by the Greenburgh Paramedic.

After operating for approximately 45 minutes, control of the scene was turned over to Metro-North personnel to conduct their investigation.

Our thanks to the agencies which assisted our operation at the train station: Hastings-on-Hudson Police, the Town of Greenburgh Police Paramedic and Metro-North Police/Fire.
