The HFD EMS Officers presented EMS LifeSaving Awards to 60 Control’s Lt. Astarita, HPD Police Officers Fattorini and Minor, HFD EMTs Cohen and Lee, HFD FF Golds and GPM Guarino in recognition for their actions in resuscitating an unresponsive and not breathing resident of Hastings on Hudson on July 19, 2023.
Lt. Astarita WCDES Emergency Communication Center was recognized for his actions in providing emergency medical instructions to the 911 caller to help resuscitate the patient. First responders HPD PO Fattorini and PO Minor were recognized for their quick action in administering Narcan for this accidental overdose of prescribed medications.
The HFD EMS crew was recognized for arriving on location shortly after HPD and while the patient was still unresponsive and not breathing administered an additional dose of Narcan. The patient’s care was transferred to GPM Guarino and was transported to WMC where the patient was eventually released without any deficits.
Through the heroic efforts of all involved with this incident a life was saved. All involved with this EMS incident and the Washington Ave lifesaving incident from last year have been nominated for the upcoming Westchester County WREMSCO Awards. Attached are a few pictures of the award recipients.
