Structure Fire In Down Town Hastings

On September 23rd, Hastings Fire & Ambulance respond to a reported structure fire in the down town area on Warburton Ave. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke condition coming from the building and Chief Mike Gunther requested mutual aid from the surrounding river town departments. The fire was found to be in the lower level of the building facing Maple Ave. The owner of the building had deployed several fire extinguishers and prevented the fire from spreading. HFD advanced a hose line from Maple Ave wet down the area, checked for extension and conducted overhaul. The building was full of smoke and was vented until safe for occupancy. Four employees of the building were transported by HFD Ambulance to the hospital for smoke inhalation. No Firefighters were injured
