Hastings FD 2019 Annual Inspection

By Chief John Lindner
September 15, 2019

On Friday, September 13th, the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department hosted the annual 2019 inspection and reception. The weather was perfect, and the apparatus and members looked great. The venue, St. Andrews Golf Club, was outstanding as always and the band "Lords of Hawthorne" played all of the best music.

The evening began with the inspection of our apparatus and members by our elected Village, County and State officials, along with representatives from our neighboring town and village fire departments. We took this opportunity to recognize three of our members for their outstanding service and dedication. The Top Responder awards were presented to 2nd Lieutenant Amy Tilipko, who responded to the most EMS calls (September 2018 to 2019), and 1st Lieutenant Brendan Woods, who responded to the most fire calls (September 2018 to 2019).

The Chief's Award was presented to Deputy Chief Robert "Bob" Russak for his years of service as the department fire prevention officer. Bob has prepared hundreds of our citizens on how to plan for an emergency, what to do in the event of a fire and how to prevent fires. After the speeches and ceremonies, everyone enjoyed dinner and dancing.

Thank you to Jean Schnibbe for all her work setting up the event and Jim Metzger for all of the pictures capturing the event.
