| During the month of October 2019 members of the Hastings Fire Department completed their annual "Bail Out" certification. This training is required for all interior fire fighters to insure that they are able to deploy their bail out system if they become trapped in a burning building. The system is similar to repelling where the fire fighter can either tie off on a piece of the building or hook the window sill and bail out of a window . The fire fighter can then descend below the fire. This is used as a last resort in case a firefighter is trapped and there is no other way out besides jumping out a window. All interior firefighters in in our department are equipped with their own bail out system to insure they have the equipment needed that may save their life. |
