| During the month of October 2019 the Hastings Fire Department conducted the annual "Bail Out " re-certification for interior fire fighters. Our department equips all Interior firefighters with individual bail out systems that enable them to escape a burning building by jumping out of a window and lowering themselves below the fire. This is similar to repelling but we use a specially designed descender manufactured specifically for firefighters. This system is used as a last resort where the firefighter is trapped and has no other options. The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson and the Fire Department are committed to insure our department has the equipment need to keep our Firefighters safe. |
